The 60s to 80s were a golden era for Khartoum, with development, business, and infrastructure all thriving. By the 90s, you could still see the signs of that vibrant time, and downtown Khartoum was still buzzing with activity. That’s when I started tagging along with my dad to his office in the city center. It was always such an exciting experience, and I dreamed of one day working in that lively place. Fast forward two decades, and I began to photograph those familiar spots. The past twenty years have been a bit rough on Khartoum, and things have changed a lot. Old Khartoum isn’t completely deserted, but it definitely feels like it’s lost some of its spirit. My images capture the contrast between what I see now and the emotions I felt back then, blending the past with the present.
